Bachelor’s Program in Economics and Business (SSE Riga)

Kyiv School of Economics and Stockholm School of Economics in Riga have launched a joint program in Economics and Business. It is formed according to European standards: the duration of studies is three years. The courses that comprise the program are focused specifically on the study of economic science and the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. Also among the features of this program:


  • English as the language of instruction: students become accustomed to learning and communicating in English, which prepares them to work for international companies.


  • Modular system: students combine theoretical and practical formats of learning, which allows for the effective application of the acquired knowledge in the solution of real cases. The study focuses only on two or three courses at a time. Frequently there are daily lectures and seminars in the course. The assessment consists of exam results, practical work on the project and its presentation.


  • Personalized learning: students study in small groups, which allows faculty to provide an individualized approach to each student. Students are also allowed to choose optional courses.


  • Opportunity to choose a specialization: a student can choose the most interesting industry for themselves in Economics, Finance, Retail, Entrepreneurship.


  • Application of innovative learning methods: case study, guest lectures, opportunity to visit production facilities, diversified tasks.


  • Students mobility: students have an opportunity to leave for exchange for 1 semester at one of partner universities in Europe, Hong Kong, Korea, and the United States


  • Practice-oriented study: two internships are provided during the program.


  • A community of international faculty and students: Students from all over the world study at SSE Riga, which ensures a continuous exchange of experience.


  • Active student life: a large number of organizations, clubs and support centers. Weekly sports and cultural events.


  • Teamwork: Almost all of the SSE courses require project writing in cross-cultural teams


  • Project work: Business projects may include visiting the enterprise, interviews with executives and employees to investigate a case, or communication with companies to request information.


  • Presentations: At the end of each course, students present their work to a group and a faculty.


  • Feedback: After each course, the student evaluates the course and the faculty. The information collected is used to improve the quality of the course.

After three years students are qualified for work in state institutions, accounting, tax and consulting firms, banks and financial institutions, information technology, advertising and marketing companies, wholesale, retail and manufacturing companies as well as educational institutions.


In addition to all benefits of this BA program, Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) provides extra opportunities for students from Ukraine: 

  • to have internship in Ukraine (for example, at the International Monetary Fund or the National Bank of Ukraine)
  • to take one course at Kyiv School of Economics *
  • to become a part of KSE community
  • to have a Bachelor thesis supervised by one of the KSE faculty.
  • to have additional advice on the application to the KSE Master’s programs


Tuition Fee 


Tuition fee is EUR 6,250 per year. The tuition fee covers all study costs: handouts, printouts, textbooks (provided by the SSE Riga Library), WiFi. 


Financial aid:


  • There are one-off merit-based scholarships funded by corporate donors ranging from EUR 500 to 2,000 awarded based on academic performance.
  • Alumni Association scholarships are provided by alumni and awarded based on admissions results. Ten first-year students will have the opportunity to receive a scholarship of EUR 1,950, based on their results during the admissions process.
  • SSE Riga offers a loan program guaranteed by the School. SSE Riga has a cooperation agreement with AS SEB Banka in Latvia that gives students an opportunity to get a loan from SEB on favorable terms. Loans are available to students from Ukraine aged 18+.
